01 — The Problem
The Problem
Let's Go Home Team had something most merch brands don't — a business model where every purchase goes directly back to the team and school programs. Fans aren't just buying gear, they're investing in their kids.
The store just wasn't telling that story. Built on a legacy Shopify theme, the storefront lacked the structure, clarity, and professionalism to stand next to competitors in the space. Mobile experience was fragmented, product pages were cluttered, and the brand's most compelling differentiator was buried.
02 — Goals & Objectives
Goals & Objectives
- Migrate from legacy Shopify theme to Horizon (Shopify 2.0)
- Rebuild information architecture for clarity and competitive positioning
- Surface the brand's unique mission — every purchase gives back to the team
- Improve mobile UX across all product and collection pages
- Add trust signals and policy visibility on PDPs
- Implement Shopify product taxonomy for AI commerce readiness
- Develop a repeatable design system that navigates school logo licensing
- Build backend filtering by season and school for operational flexibility
- Deliver AI workflow documentation for ongoing independent operation
03 — Process & Insight
Process & Insight
The migration began with a full audit of the existing store structure — identifying where the customer journey broke down and where the brand story was being lost. The Horizon theme was selected for its performance, mobile-first architecture, and Shopify 2.0 flexibility.
A key early discovery was the school logo licensing blocker. Rather than treating it as a limitation, we developed a repeatable template design system that works within those constraints while reinforcing LGHT's brand identity consistently across every team store.
Information architecture was rebuilt from the ground up — navigation, collection structure, and filtering logic were redesigned so customers could find what they needed quickly, and so the LGHT team could update the store by season and school without developer involvement.
Shopify's product taxonomy guidelines were implemented throughout, positioning the catalog for the accelerating shift toward AI-assisted shopping.

04 — The Solution
The Solution
This engagement wasn't a theme swap — it was a full repositioning of how Let's Go Home Team shows up and operates online.
Store Architecture — Migrated from a legacy theme to Shopify Horizon, rebuilding the structure so the storefront is professional enough to stand next to any competitor in the space. Clean navigation, logical collection hierarchy, and a mobile-first layout throughout.
Surfacing the Differentiator — Every purchase on LGHT sends money directly back to the team and school programs. We made sure that story led the experience — surfaced prominently in the hero, reinforced on product pages, and woven into the brand's visual language.
Trust Signals on PDPs — Added policies, shipping info, and reassurance cues where customers actually look — reducing hesitation at the point of purchase and giving shoppers the confidence to buy.
AI Commerce Readiness — Implemented Shopify's product taxonomy guidelines to position the catalog for the growing shift toward AI-assisted shopping, ensuring LGHT's products surface accurately in AI-driven discovery.
A Scalable Brand System — School logo licensing was a real blocker. We solved it by developing a repeatable template design that protects the brand, works within licensing constraints, and scales as new teams are added.
Operational Flexibility — Built backend filtering by season and school so the LGHT team can surface the right products at the right time — no developer required. The store now operates on their schedule, not ours.
AI Handoff — Documented workflows for using third-party AI tools and Shopify Sidekick so the LGHT team can manage, update, and grow their store independently from day one.
This project was the direct inspiration for the Shopify Horizons Theme Setup service.
