Webflow CMS Certification

From Confused to Certified: My Journey with Webflow CMS

Two years ago, I got my Webflow CMS Certification—and it meant more to me than just a badge. It was proof that I could learn something that once felt totally foreign.

Back then, the idea of a CMS felt like magic… or madness. “Dynamic content moving around a site?” I barely knew what that meant, much less how to build it. Templates especially confused me. Coming from a music background, I understood building something unique and expressive. But repeatable structures that powered dozens of pages? That felt like a different language.

Getting certified wasn’t just about technical skills. It was about building confidence. I needed to believe myself when I told clients, “Yes, I can build you a CMS collection. Yes, I know how to create a template.” And slowly, through Webflow’s wonderfully weird and charming how-to videos, I started to see how it all worked.

Looking back now, I honestly don’t even remember what was on the exam. I do remember how nervous I was—how I stressed and doubted whether I was even cut out for this work. Maybe this was the part where I fell off. Maybe I just wasn’t smart enough to learn CMS.

Thankfully, that wasn’t the end of the story.

Today, I help maintain and optimize Shopify stores for a global brand. CMS is second nature now. I still break things sometimes. I still get stuck. But I know how to work through it—and that belief is worth more than any certificate.

So here’s what I’d tell anyone starting out:
Learn Webflow. Learn what sparks your curiosity. Break big ideas down into bite-sized chunks. You can’t eat the elephant in one bite. But with patience (and maybe a few how-to videos), you can learn to build powerful, scalable sites—and feel proud doing it.
