What's your business, and who are your customers?

Humangoodkind Designs is a Web Design and Development company based in Nashville with clients across the globe. We build sites for small businesses, nonprofits, and solo entrepreneurs.

Tell us about yourself

I started Humangoodkind Designs during the COVID-19 lockdown. Normally I am a full-time professional musician and travel 200+ days a year. With the lockdown, I had to find a different way to create income and also get my creative juices out in the world. I love helping clients solve problems, whether that is having a website that more accurately portrays their brand or incorporating features into their current website that will help their business be more dynamic.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is collaborating with artists, chefs, and creatives that I admire. I also love being able to donate my talents to businesses that do not have budgets to hire me outright.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Work/life balance is challenging. I love being able to pop into my office and check an item off the to-do list; however, this can creep into family time. My two boys really help me with being in the present moment, and I am grateful for their patience.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Networking is such an important thing. Some of my favorite gigs have been from word-of-mouth referrals. Prioritize research and grow your knowledge base. Stacking your skills will help with commanding a higher pay rate. Have fun, and bring a bit of play into your work. Doing that has helped keep work fresh and inspiring.
