Canvas Rebel — Interview

I share my web dev story over the last 3 years pivoting from music to code

Over the past few years, I’ve undergone a major career pivot—from touring full-time as a professional musician to working full-time in web development. In a recent interview with Canvas Rebel, I had the chance to reflect on that journey: from playing 200+ shows a year to building digital solutions from home.

I talked about how the transition wasn’t just about changing careers, but about applying the same mindset that helped me grow as a musician to this new space—persistence, adaptability, and a deep love for creative problem-solving. Music and coding may seem worlds apart, but both are grounded in structure, rhythm, and the satisfaction of continuous improvement.

At Human Good Kind Designs, I bring this mindset into every project. Whether I’m working on user experience, troubleshooting a bug, or designing something new from scratch, my focus is always on growth—mine, the client’s, and the product’s. That idea of “getting 1% better every day” is something I live by, and it’s made all the difference.

If you’re curious about the full story or considering a similar pivot yourself, check out the full interview. I hope it encourages others to embrace change, trust the process, and keep building—even if the direction feels unconventional.
